Tatarian Aster
Common Names: Tatarian Aster, Tatarinow's Aster
Latin Name: Aster Tataricus
General Info
- Comes from Siberia/Mongolia.
- Blooms in the fall.
- Also a rhizome! Divide every 3-4 years to control growth. Division should
happen in early spring just as new shoots are emerging.
- Should not require staking, but possible if not enough full sun.
- probably the more sun the better.
Soil Requirements
- seems flexible about soil pH.
Water Requirements
- Needs moist, well drained soil. But it's prone to fungal diseases, etc. so
make sure it's leaves aren't soaked all the time, etc.
Fertilization
- Maybe some organic fertilizer at the start of the growing season.
- Asters in general are best fertilized and planted in spring, which is the same time to
divide existing ones that are outgrowing their space or blooming poorly. We
recommend a fertilizer rich in natural and organic nutrients
